Default Did my Apple iiGS Die?

I was using my GS trying to stream with ADP pro and I can't get it to
boot back up:

Could this be the pram battery?

Any Ideas? I have tried unpluging and flipping the switch on and of
but no luck.

It looks like it is going thur a self test. Unplug the keyboard and
see if it boots.

No it can't be the bram.

The iigs is performing its self test because your keyboard or joystick
has the two buttons pressed.

Try again with no joystick nor keyboard plugged in and tell us,
Antoine

Well. Are any of the cables still attached? Unplug them all. If it
still does it then disconnect every thing from the CPU. Take out the
memory or any cards that you can. Then turn it on with ONLY the
monitor connected. Still have a problem. I would take the cover off
and try shaking and tapping it on the bottom. Something may be loose
in there that should not be there. Some times you will have to rotate
it in all directions to break it loose. If you hear something if could
be under the mother board. If you hear something, then that is not
right. I would pull out the PS and the front strip. Next I would get a
can of compressed air and let it loose on everything. The inside back
plane where get plugged in. All the chips, All the slots. Then I would
look at everything inside. Making sure no bugs, rust or anything is
not shorting some thing out. I can not see the battery doing anything.
But I could see it becoming a short if it goes bad. So the last thing
I would try would be cutting on of the leads to see what happens or if
it is a Rom 3 remove it,

So, were you able to test it?

Ok so unplugging all cables including keyboard except monitor did not
help. Removing ram card did not help cleaning the motherboard did not
help. Oddly enough if I plug my serial to USB adaptor into the 9pin
game port the system will boot! Is the screen supposed to have a blue
background? I want to fix the problem but I'm still clueless as to why
this fixes the problem. I have the motherboard removed from the case
and don't see any obvious issues. Any ideas?

A blue screen happens when your computer gets reset to its factory
defaults. If you can boot with the serial to usb adapter, hold down
the option key before power on. If you are able to get into the
control panel, you can check the settings.

Did you have anything plugged into the game port when previously
booting? A way to check if the computer is sensing if the paddle
buttons are being pushed even when there is nothing plugged in is to
go into the system monitor with a "CALL -151" and type C060 or C061 at
the the star prompt. Any value greater than 80 indicates that the
paddle buttons are in its pressed state.
