Default CFFA3000 firmware RC1 released

In a note to the beta testers, Rich Dreher announced the first release
candidate of CFFA3000 firmware was just released. Forwarded note from
Rich follows:

CFFA3000 Beta Testers,

We have finally finished the firmware and have uploaded
release candidate #1. After some tricky issues with Copy II+ and
some major changes to the CPLD we think we have something solid.

I plan to ship the first 100 boards out next Monday and need to start
programming boards this weekend. If you have any time in the next couple
days please try out this firmware and logic and let me know
what you find.

I would like to point out that the logic updates fix some serious
reliability issues.

Thank you to those who have provided feedback.

-Rich

Good question. I think Rich and Dave are going to catch up on their
sleep first. Those guys pulled some crazy hours to make this thing go.
I tried to keep up with them on their weekend video conferences - but
they just laughed at me when I fell asleep in my chair at 3:00 AM.

I placed an order/ request for the 2nd run. I'll just keep waiting for
info and will probably notice when there's more info on it.

Gr, D.

Thanks.

The project can be found here -
http://dreher.net/?s=projects/CFforA...pleII/main.php

I don't want to quote prices because they change too often but it is an
amazing product. It is supposed to be working on the everything but the //c
machines (no slots)

It would solve your "large image" issues you've been having.

Thanks! I hope that the price is not out of reach, otherwise I will
have to settle for a MicroDrive, or something similar...

Rich has started shipping units out as of yesterday (see the status page
here):
http://dreher.net/?s=projects/CFforA...rderStatus.php

I believe the first run went for $149, but it's always good to remember
that past performance isn't necessarily indicative of future results.
