Due to last week's "Snowpocalypse" here in Western Washington, the dancing
that the commercial power did before going out killed the IIe that ran the
board. If the Focus IDE controller isn't dead, I should have the bbs back
up by no later than Wednesday. I need to dig out my "hot spare" IIe.

Thanks for your patience!

Where are you based out of? Seattle?

Down here in the Vancouver area we only had about an inch last Wednesday,
and it was all gone by about 1500 that afternoon. Didn't stop Evergreen
School District from cancelling all the day's classes and KATU/KGW from
hyping it into the Storm of the Decade!

(I hear they had more in Portland, even though for the most part they're
at a lower elevation than we are here. Go figure.)

We got hit with 6-14" followed by an ice storm. PSE had over 900 crews working
to restore power. Some folks _still_ don't have power back because of the
wind storm that followed the ice... I was out from Thursday to Sunday.

We had a storm like that here several Januarys ago (think it was around
2003/2004 or so). A thick sheet of ice formed on all the roads, underneath
the snow, making it nearly impossible to even so much as walk anywhere for
about a week, let alone drive. I think that was one of the worst I've seen
in my lifetime.

(Oh yeah, and the geniuses at WashDOT wouldn't salt or spray the roads,
because they were paranoid the runoff would get into the Columbia and harm
their precious salmon, so they instead used gravel and sand which makes
almost no improvement on the roads' traction, but it does make the
salmon-huggers feel better.)

This time around they weren't shy about the salt or chemicals. The problem
is that one of their damn snow plows snapped off my mailbox post at thr root
so now I have to find the time to replace the damn thing - they won't.

BTW, to the nice guy that called me last night about the Focus IDE card, sorry
I didn't call back! My cell service is flaky at the house.
