The thing is that I don't know exactly what each app does in the
background and how much data it would/could consume. So I would rather
not risk it.
I know that for Apple push notification, if the app is NOT running on
the iphoen anymore, the push notification will issue a message to the
user about some new "incoming" item and give me the option to start the
app which would then process this item (aka: consume data).
But when the app is running in background, I am not sure exactly what
the policy is.
In fact, if you roam, you'd want to turn off any/all push notifiocation
communications because every kilobyte will cost you dearly.
