Yep, it's basically a completely new device. Some hacker might get the old
model to run the new software (in a similar way to the iPhone emaultor
running on Mac OS X), but it's unlikely there will ever be an official way.
On the surface and with only the quick look and limited details I've had
time to read so far, it seems like a step backwards, as does the horrible
new iPod Nano. :-\ Of course, Apple TV has always been classed as a
"hobby" project.
