Hello Dear Readers,
My name is Manan aka iMav (the ‘i‘ can be figured out why), the owner of the domain & blog Strider asked me whether i would like to be the Editor of a Mac blog; at first i was a bit hesitant to accept it as I’m not a big fan of Apple & specially some of their products for apparent reasons (which you will come across in some posts of mine) but then i thought about it and said to myself that it is a good challenge for me.
Through this blog i will try to bring to you the latest that is happening in the world of Apple from a user perspective - some one who is more of a technology and gadget lover than a fanboy of a particular brand, in this case Apple.
Be rest assured that you will be seeing Apple products from a different perspective, there is a reason why Im also called The Devil’s Advocate.
Thank you & happy reading!
- iMav
Just found this interesting article @ Wired.com. It’s quoting top 15 quotes on apple and it’s products by various celebs and techies and off course proved dumpest of all time!
It’s easy to dump ire on anlysts for getting it wrong so often. What those guys do, however, is provide a particular service to particular people. Interpreting what analysts say in terms of truth or falsity is to forget the real lesson we should take from Prof. Frankfurt: words build worlds.
Here is two of the top predictions:
The iMac Will Fail
“The iMac will only sell to some of the true believers. The iMac doesn’t include a floppy disk drive drive for doing file backups or sharing of data. It’s an astonishing lapse from Jobs, who should have learned better… the iMac is clean, elegant, floppy-free–and doomed.” — Hiawatha Bray in the Boston Globe, 1998.
Give the Money Back
“I’d shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders.” — Michael Dell in October 1997,as an immediate prelude to a renaissance that would see Apple ultimately eclipse Dell in size.

Well, not a long quest in fact! Yesterday I was reading the Mac World magazine and suddenly an idea came to my mind! You got a few websites, forums and blogs related to various subjects, then why not a Mac Blog!
I logged on to Digital point forums and posted a thread asking for a Mac related domain. With in a few minutes I got a PM from another Indian webmaster Arjun about a domain for sale which is MacShock.com. Not a bad one but i replied him to wait for a few days so that I can look in to other offers as well. In the mean time I posted the same domain wanted post in many Domain forums, but the offers were not realistic!! I will need to spend a US $500 to get a decent one.
Thinking that ‘Domains are damn costly now!’, I moved to sedo for a quick search. The best one I found was MacToday.com. Hoo… Just for a try I registered an account at Sedo, verified it though SMS and made an offer for $60 ( it’s the minimum bid at sedo
) . After a few minutes I got a counter offer of $ 3500 for the lovely MacToday.com. OMG, I had money I would have bought it already.
So I went back to DP and replied Arjun saying that, okay, I’ll take the MacShock.com. He replied with details and I suggested a Yahoo messenger chat because the domain was registered at DomainRightNow.com, which is a reseller of Godaddy. I hate godaddy and hence it’s resellers, but here there is no other options. So searched google a bit about this registrar and it seems they are cheap and at least not bad as registerfly! So created an account at DomainRightNow and in a few minutes Arjun pushed the domain. Payment is made through paypal and I’m now the happy owner of MacShock.com!
I haven’t decided what to actually do here. An apple news tech and software blog is the best bet!
